The Jenkins Lot Augmented Reality (AR) Tour is an application developed for visitors of the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, managed by the U.S. National Park Service in Springfield, Illinois. Through this app, users can explore digital reconstructions of historical buildings and individuals superimposed onto the lot, projecting different moments over a span of 150 years. The functionality of the app relies on the identification of specific AR target signs, enabling visitors to access augmented reality content.
Moreover, the application includes a non-AR mode, offering the virtual representations without the necessity of viewing an AR target sign.
Jameson Jenkins, James Blanks, and their families were notable neighbors of Abraham Lincoln in Springfield. Residing on this historical lot, they were early advocates for civil rights, particularly for African Americans. Explore more about these individuals, their families, and witness the evolution of this site over almost 150 years.
